Year released: 1983 in japan, as the Nintendo Famicom. Feb 1986 in the US.
Cpu speed: 1.68 MHz (for PAL)

Left side 40 pin IC is the CPU, below the Nintendo logo is the PPU.

The game cartridge slots into the ZIF socket on this side. The zif
socket was the component that was the most likely to cause trouble with
the NES, it would become oxidized and bent so the game would not run.
As you may know using the console often required one to blow into the
game cartridge for minutes until it would work, and the moisture from
blowing hardly made the oxidation problem better. ^_^
